Our Life Support Package is an amazing opportunity for people across NZ to access the Surviving Emotional Storms Programme online! Using the latest research available, we have launched a brand new delivery method, that will help you integrate key emotional management skills in real time, with real support, at your own pace.
Many DBT group courses teach skills weekly, over 2 hours. People with bpd/traits/trauma can already struggle with overwhelm; so to get to a course, interact socially, and learn intensive skills for 2 hours- moving on to a different skill topic each week can be a stressful and sometimes an unsuccessful experience. There is not always time and the right opportunity to practice newly learned weekly skills before the next ones are taught, adding to overwhelm and overload. Research suggests that on completion of traditional group therapy for BPD- that people often still struggle, especially with work and relationships. With the Life Support Package- we set you up for success from the beginning, by taking into account for the program delivery mode how our brains best learn, and how to turn what you learn in theory into every day supported practice. Additional therapies have been synergised with DBT, such as attachment and narrative therapies, to extend deeper relational and sense of self support.
How it works and what you get:
Journey to the Lighthouse book with interactive journal: This book has been especially written for those with borderline personality, complex PTSD, and early trauma. This book is unique in that each of the 13 chapters starts with a novella about Mooj- who is lost at sea- in the sea of her emotions- as she journeys to the lighthouse. Members are invited to join Mooj as she navigates obstacles along her way. Following each of Mooj's story segments, Dr Jen teaches readers a key set of skills that will help Mooj and readers of each part of the journey. Concluding each chapter are 31days of prompted journaling pages, to help build and reflect on the skills for the month. Daily pages also have symbols to record water intake, glimmer moments, and values connected to each day. At the end of each chapter readers are invited to reflect on their learnings for the month.
Monthly Survival Skills expansion tutorial: Every month members have access to a new tutorial designed and delivered by Dr Jen. She will take you through the skills for the month, and expand on them for a deep dive to unpack the skills being focused on, and how to practice them. For best results have a notebook and your journal ready when you watch your tutorial, so that you can make notes that make sense to you. The tutorials are available all month to watch again if you would like to refresh or clarify skills.
Monthly bespoke meditation/ audio: Often skills training can be difficult because our conscious minds might want to achieve therapy goals, however our sub-conscious is not always on-board. This is a recipe for self-sabotage! We use a suite of tools to get the sub-conscious mind onboard, including a monthly bespoke meditation on each skill being learned, best used daily for the month. Your bespoke meditations are carefully chosen, created or modified and are read by Dr Jen herself.
Monthly live coaching spot: Once a month Dr Jen will do a live coaching spot. Members have an opportunity to ask questions, and a wellbeing topic will be introduced focused on increasing feelings of positivity, and keeping on-track.
